Learn With Me

See below for the different ways I can support your child from Maths confused to Maths confident!

Group Sessions
Helen Westwood

These work through the main topics for Key Stage 3, Foundation GCSE Maths or Higher GCSE Maths to help students to understand key topics and methods in Maths.

My small group Key Stage 3 sessions work on a specific Maths topic each week, have mixed warm up questions and always finish with a Maths related game! These sessions are great to boost confidence and understanding in Maths.

My Foundation GCSE and Higher GCSE Maths revision groups revise the GCSE Maths content (at the appropriate level) in the run up to the summer GCSE Maths exams.

These sessions help to break down the GCSE Maths content into bite size chunks while students get the opportunity to have support and encouragement from an experienced teacher and tutor.

My small group online sessions are on

Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays & Sundays.

Key Stage 3 Maths (for students in Year 7, 8 or 9)

Wednesdays 5pm - 5:45pm

Thursdays 6pm - 6:45pm

Foundation GCSE Maths Success (covering up to GCSE grade 5)

Tuesdays 8pm - 9:15pm

Sundays 6pm - 7:15pm

Higher GCSE Maths Success (covering from GCSE grade 4 to grade 9)

Fridays 6pm - 7:15pm

Sundays 7:30pm - 8:45pm

GCSE Group Sessions

I host weekly, small group online revision masterclasses (maximum 8 students) to prepare for GCSE Maths exams via structured, interactive revision sessions with myself, an experienced teacher, tutor and previous GCSE examiner.

one one one

One-to-One Tuition

Using Zoom, my online interactive whiteboard and visualiser camera, I can work on any area of Maths that your child might like or need support with.

One-to-One sessions work brilliantly when your child needs that extra support. If you have registered with me before, then you can see updated booking slots in the calendar that you can book ad-hoc. If you are new to my services, then email me and we can get started on what will work best for your child and you.

Documents (in pdf form) and photos of questions and workings are uploaded into the whiteboard for us to work on collaboratively.

Students often send me screenshots and photos of questions from online homework that have been tricky so we can unpick these.

Sessions can be delivered to develop numerical understanding and fluency, to boost confidence and to support preparation for school assessments and GCSE Maths exams.

I also have experience of teaching Functional Maths and Maths at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 to give students the best possible start and support with their mathematical knowledge and understanding

I have one to one online sessions available on Mondays and Tuesdays after school.

Or email me here to find out more about my one-to-one tuition

Great top up Maths tuition sessions with Helen, for my daughter who has additional needs.

My daughter found them helpful in the lead up to her GCSE's.

Helen was great at communicating and I would highly recommend!

home study

I am able to provide a personalised, tailored approach to reflect the home educating philosophy that you would like for your child. Some of my families prefer a structured approach, with students working towards sitting the Functional Skills or GCSE Maths qualifications within a set timeframe

Other families choose for students to explore their numeracy skills or preferred areas of interest with Maths and Personal Finance and I am able to support and prepare sessions accordingly.

Daytime one to one sessions available for home educated students

Home Education Support

Megan is home-schooled and started with weekly maths sessions with Helen when she was 9.

She's now also doing weekly science lessons too.

Megan's favourite subject is not maths and Helen is very good at keeping her interested with different approaches. She also works along with Megan's preferred choice in maths topics and diverges (after checking with me) from the curriculum.

Helen is always punctual and very well organised.

Kirsten (Megan's Mum)

Helen is very understanding and takes an interest in you.

She is very easy to go with what you like and sometimes gives you something hard but she's ok if you can't do it. She helps you through and she makes you understand what it is.

She is a really good teacher and I like her a lot, she is very fun.
